a History : Abundant Life Christian School and Learning Center
Growing Kids God's Way

Abundant Life Christian School & Learning Center was founded in 1982 by the congregation of the First Baptist Church of Wilmington, now known as Abundant Life Church of Wilmington.

Its formation was in response to the desire of local Christian families for a private school setting emphasizing quality education from a Godly perspective.  Upon approval from the local school committee, ALCS opened in the Boutwell School, a former public school building, in September 1982.

Throughout its 12-year history at Boutwell, ALCS experienced significant growth.  By 1994, ALCS had outgrown the facility.  This coincided with Wilmington Public Schools need for the Boutwell School location.  The school packed its belongings into trailers in June 1995 without having found a location in which to reopen in the fall.

“For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

School opened in 4 locations in September of 1995 and by March 1996, the congregation of the host church voted to build a new Christian Education facility on the church site.  Ground was broken on June 4, 1996 and the 21,000 sq. ft. addition was completed in just 3 months!  Classes began in the new facility mid-October, 1996, to the glory of God!

Since that time Abundant Life Christian School & Learning Center has continued to grow, adding new programing and expanded opportunities for children.  We now look to the future as we continue to Grow Kids God’s Way, Transforming lives through discipleship and academic excellence in a loving, nurturing community.
